Armando Vilaseca President of The Cuban American Friendship Society (CAFS) will be the Colchester Milton Rotary's featured speaker this Thursday at McGillicuddy's On The Green in Colchester. CAFS is an organization with a mission to build community relations between the people of Cuba and the US. It was founded in 1988 by Sandy Baird and has taken dozens of groups to Cuba over the past decades. CAFS organizes trips to Cuba focused on connecting people and learning about the many facets of the country. Discussions will include US and Cuban relations and the impact of the economic embargo placed on Cuba. From health care and education, agriculture, music, and arts our travelers get to experience a bit of all these areas so they leave with a better understanding of the country and its challenges. If you would like to order lunch please arrive by 11:30. Meeting starts at noon. |

Anson Tebbetts the Vermont Commissioner of Agriculture will be the Colchester Milton Rotary's featured speaker Thursday, April 17th at McGillicuddy's On The Green in Colchester. The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets facilitates, supports and encourages the growth and viability of agriculture in Vermont while protecting the working landscape, human health, animal health, plant health, consumers and the environment. The Agency is comprised of six divisions: Administration, Agricultural Development, Food Safety & Consumer Protection, Public Health and Ag Resource Management, Water Quality and the Vermont Agriculture and Environmental Laboratory. SHORT BIO Anson Tebbetts was appointed Vermont’s Secretary of Agriculture, Food, and Markets by Governor Phil Scott in January of 2017. Prior to his appointment, Tebbetts spent more than twenty years as part of the WCAX news team, serving as the station’s news director since 2009. From 2007-2009, he stepped away from his role at WCAX to serve as Deputy Secretary of the Agency of Agriculture, under the Douglas administration. An avid bird enthusiast, he co-hosts “For the Birds” on WDEV & WLVB radio.Tebbetts, a graduate of Emerson College, is a native Vermonter with deep agricultural roots. He was born and raised on his family’s farm in Cabot, where he continues to reside today with his wife Vicky and their two children. If you would like to order lunch please arrive by 11:30.
