About The Holiday Basket Program
40+ yrs ago, the Colchester, Vermont community began a program called Colchester Holiday Baskets. Over many years, our community has rallied to provide food to our neediest families during the Holiday Season. 15+ years ago, the Colchester-Milton Rotary Club took over this project from the local community group and we are proud to serve our town and less fortunate families during this season.

The CM Rotary Club has solicited funds from folks just like you each year. With the funds collected, we buy quality food at discounted prices from various sources including Mazza’s Store and Price Chopper. Then our members, working in conjunction with other groups, such as local churches, the Boy Scouts, Friends of Burnham Library and the Colchester Fire Departments, assemble baskets full of food, books and small gifts and deliver these baskets to needy families in Colchester in mid-December.

The requests for baskets come through our school district that contacts families in need confidentially and asks them to contact us directly to get on our list for baskets. This list has grown every year, and last year (2017) we served over 140 families consisting of over 600 children and adults.

This year there are over 285 eligible families and we anticipate a record year of participation. Generous donations last year allowed us to replenish our short fall in 2016 but we still have to raise funds to cover this year's expected expenses.  We striving to build a reserve that can cover our annual expenses so that we can handle an unexpected increase in participation or the inability to raise sufficient funds in the future. Every donation serves folks in our community and strengthens our community!
Donations tax deductible and are as easy as clicking here, or you can mail a check to the Colchester-Milton Rotary Club at P.O. Box 82. Colchester, VT 05446 - please write "Holiday Baskets" in the memo.
