The Burlington Rotary Club hosted their annual Spelling Bee on Thursday, May 22nd, and our team of Kevin, Nancy, and Betty came in first, out-spelling the 4 other Rotary teams, then winning the finals in a lightning round! The trophy was awarded by Mary Cenci, host of "Mike and Mary in the Morning" on radio station 92.9, who was the Master of Ceremonies. It was a fun event for all! Special thanks to our members who participated and those who came to cheer our team on. Congratulations, Super Spellers!!
This event brought in 100k over the last two years and supported the Burlington Club's commitment to its local partners in fighting food insecurity as well as their ongoing project to provide early literacy opportunities for children in Burlington. This event reinforced the importance of soliciting community sponsors for fundraisers. It was also a great experience to meet and celebrate Rotary with other clubs in our district.
