The Colchester-Milton Rotary's annual [Virtual] Fill The Truck For The Food Shelf 2021 starts May 1st!
Hunger in Vermont remains higher than at any point in recent history, including the 2009 Recession.
We will be collecting only monetary donations again this year (due to Covid) for the entire month of May. Last year our goal was $5,000 and thanks to our generous community we raised over $9,200 for the Colchester, Milton & Grand Isle food shelves. This year, due to continued critical need, we're setting the bar high at $10,000. See below for details and how to donate.

This year's goal for the monthly fundraiser is $10,000.00 which breaks down to $2,500.00 a week or $322.58 a day. Any and all monetary donations will be accepted whether it’s $1.00, $100.00, $1,000.00, or anywhere in between. Every dollar will help feed a hungry neighbor.

Please consider donating any amount you may be comfortable with. We have attempted to make it as easy as possible to donate online with the link below or you can send a check (see address below).

Thank you in advance for helping to reduce food insecurity and feeding a family in need.

Why you should help

  • Hunger in Vermont remains higher than at any point in recent history, including the 2009 Recession.
  • Hunger in Vermont had declined after the peak of the 2009 Recession and plateaued for years at about 1 in 10 Vermonters, but there has been a sharp increase since the start of the pandemic.
  • 1 in 3 people in Vermont has faced hunger during the pandemic.
  • Economic downturns and recessions have lasting impacts on peoples’ general economic and food security and recovery is very slow. It took 12 years for Vermont to return to pre-recession levels of hunger after the Great Recession, even though the economy and unemployment rates recovered much earlier. As we come out of the crisis, it’s important to remember that our recovery to pre-covid levels of food insecurity will far outlast stay-at-home orders and that expanded food assistance programs will still be needed.
  • Currently, just under 70,000 Vermonters participate in 3SquaresVT, which is a federal nutrition program that provides qualified Vermonters with money to shop for themselves at their local grocery store. In March this program brought over $10 million dollars to support the Vermont economy.
