Food shelves across Vermont continue to see growing demand as more families struggle with rising grocery, housing, and utility costs. Many local food shelves are serving significantly more households than they were just a few years ago, while donations have become more difficult to keep up with.

So while you’re doing your shopping this Saturday, please consider picking up a few extra non-perishable items for a neighbor in need. A jar of peanut butter, pasta, soup, cereal, canned vegetables, or even a small cash donation can go farther than you might think.

Through the Month of May, we’ll also be accepting:

• Cash
• Checks
• Credit cards
• Venmo

Since 2012, this community effort has helped collect more than 14,000 pounds of food and over $36,000 for the food shelves of Colchester, Milton, and the Champlain Islands.

We hope to see you this Saturday at Price Chopper in Colchester. And if you hear someone trying to convince their spouse that buying cookies counts as a charitable donation… honestly, we’re willing to have that conversation.

Checks can be sent to The Colchester Milton Rotary Charitable Fund, PO Box 82, Colchester, VT 05446
